    Hello,

As the tittle says, I am going to ask a few questions.
The first would be, I'll give my PC specs:
    CPU-AMD a8 7600 R7 3.1 GHZ
    GPU-GTX 750 Ti 2GB GDDR5
    RAM-HyperX 4 GB 1600 Mhz
    HDD-160 GB
    OS: Win 7 32 bit

First question: I am at the moment using 17" screen and planning to buy a 22-24" one. I wonder, if I change the screen(And the 1280x1024 res to 1900x1080), would the FPS drop badly in such a games like Crysis 3 and etc?

Second question: I am going to reinstall my windows to 64 bit Win 7 soon, will it make any decent difference?

    Thanks for reading!

P.S. will add one more 4GB stick in the near future.

    1) Yes, by having more pixels to drive, FPS will drop and more graphics RAM will be used. Reducing graphics quality settings will improve the situation but at some cost to the visuals.

    2) It will allow Windows to access the full 4/8GB of RAM, which should lead to better performance, especially over time. You would also be able to play more recent x64 only games. The main cost would be to HDD space as the x64 version (and other x64 software) would use more space than the x86 versions.

    2 points of concern:

You haven't detailed the PSU fitted. Poor quality brands/models are much more likely to cause issues, which might damage other hardware.

A 160GB HDD is cutting it fine in capacity, esp. with recent games; it's probably of an old design = slow. Keep ~25% of free space to minimise the performance hit. (A quality, modern 240 - 256 SSD would be a big improvement.)

    Thanks for the reply!!

I wonder, should I get more RAM first or upgrade the SSD? Upgrading SSD would take more time for me, it costs kinda much as for 256GB. And I still wanted to buy a new screen first(Ram->Screen? And then SSD after a month more).
And yes, I am using like 20% of the space right now, not gonna to fill a lot.

    Oh right, my bad.

It seems that 500W PSU is more than enough. Added even some SSD, load power stays at 340W, recommended is around 450W.
Talking in terms of performance- How much would 4GB of the same HyperX DDR3 add compared to a SSD 256GB? Answer with percentage or some FPS is fine enough.

Hmm, I see that PSU mostly on EE/LV Baltic states + DE sites selling from ~19 Euro, it's CN made, probably from an old (12-15 years?) design. I'd put that firmly in the "dangerous when used with more than a basic PC" category - you're probably just on the safe side of it now - but for how much longer... ? http://www.mindfactory.de/product_i...e-Power-L8-Non-Modular-80--Bronze_857816.html would be close to the minimum quality I would use or recommend.

Installing W7x64 would free up all of your current 4GB of RAM and a fresh install is always fast :major That would be a win/win situation, providing you have x64 already.

Next for me would be the SSD > monitor > RAM.

LOL @ "burnt paper" - it shows how hot your PSU can get... next stop > BANG and the PSU + HDD are dead.

See some very closely -related models and comments (translation might be needed):

Let me clear this out: You're saying, that my PSU model is one of the worst and might not hold long with such a other components my PC has? But for a month or more it should be fine, right?
I am right now booting my flash with 64 bit win 7. Going to reinstall soon. And though my 32 bit was installed yesterday just to test stuff out(had a dvd for it already).

I am still thinking to buy Ram first and probably PSU quicker. SSD I understand would be good but can't afford for couple of time. And still want to upgrade it with smth faster.

It's pretty bad but that PSU should be fine for a month or so, your current setup is likely to draw ~200W when gaming with a maximum of less than 250W - http://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator (this is the most realistic PSU calculator that I know of).

Check how much of that 4GB of RAM is currently available to Windows x86 - Windows key + Pause/Break. With a 2GB graphics card installed, you probably have only ~2GB; once x64 is installed, almost all of that 4GB will be available. That's already a boost in your RAM+performance, without spending anything. 4GB is the cost/performance sweet spot, after that, the performance increase is lower at each step up.

The faster you can feed the CPU/GPU with data (and feed back 'old' data to the swap file), the smoother your games will play.

    I'd go (x64) > PSU > SSD > monitor > RAM but it's your money :major

    Good evening,

I've already installed the 64 bit version now. So only waiting to get some money and then buying new stuff.
Could you please recommend some non-expensive PSU that is good to use and would be handy if I upgrade my system with a SSD and overclock? (PSU, that wouldn't be just enough for the current parts and would last pretty long)

    Thanks in advance!

It's difficult for makers to build quality PSUs in the lower capacities, the main PSU sizes for gamers is from 550 - 750W, at a guess. PSU reviews are also quite rare for the lower capacities, most seem to be for 650+, so it's not so easy to pick the 'best' at lower prices.

I'm assuming that your somewhere in Europe so I'll link you to an EU price comparison page for 'recent' PSUs: http://skinflint.co.uk/?cat=gehps&v..._350~1248_450~4175_2.3~4174_ATX~1119_2#xf_top still plenty of junk mixed in, esp. under ~60 Euros.

There's a small group test of 5 350W PSUs for you to get a feel of how tricky it is at this level (not sure the reviewer didn't blow up the Seasonic on purpose, 40A at 3.3v from a 350W supply rated at 12A, when the others, rated up to 50% higher, couldn't do more than 35A ?!): http://translate.google.com/transla...test-lc-power-xilence-sea-sonic-super-flower/

For a mild overclock on your current hardware (up to a GTX960), the XFX TS Series 430W ATX 2.31 (P1-430S-XXB9) should be comfortable; for less than £30 here it's a steal, 42+ Euros doesn't look look expensive for what appears to be a very recent version from the Seasonic factory, complete with what looks like all the latest protection features etc.: http://xfxforce.com/de/products/ts-series-full-wired/ts-series-430w-psu-p1-430s-xxb9 It's likely to be rock solid at 350W and capable of peaks of close to 500W.

As an added bonus, I've managed to find a review - sorry about all the translations, as I said earlier, reviews of the lower end PSUs are hard to find: http://translate.googleusercontent....4.html&usg=ALkJrhhyQ6vBB5U7SofKtLT1NdCv7pfAdw

There are some good PSUs there, most of these 50-70 Euro parts would be fine, there are some nice ones but you'll need to study some reviews, some are much better than others:http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Kompiuteri...mait_saltiniai/CatalogStore.aspx?CatID=PL_403 Unfortunately, they don't stock XFX and I don't see the Seasonic 'equivalent' of the above XFX 430 :(

If you bump into Jos on your travels, give him a shout from me - I don't think his site holds a photo of him but the content will give you some ideas on what he'll be doing ^^: http://josstratford.co.uk/ (parts of the About me page still make me LOL).

I checked it all. But I am really bad at deciding with PSUs. Totally not my speciality, lol.
I've 3 websites where I could buy it from. Could you spend 10 mins and quickly check them all for the price of 50-70? I'd really really appreciate it. Offering more than one is fine, I'd make the final decision by myself.
Here are the 3 links(Insta linked to PSU sale page)

    P.S. + the first one I've sent.

    Super super big thanks!

LOL - 10 minutes is a big ask, there's a lot of items there that I'm not familiar with!

For your money, it looks like the be quiet! System Power 7 - 500W, 80PLUS Silver https://www.varle.lt/maitinimo-blokai/psu-be-quiet-system-power-7-500w-80plus-silver--1595534.html ~200Lt, should be a safe all-rounder.

It should manage a reasonable overclock on your current CPU + a 2x 6-pin powered graphics card up to a GTX 970 (~200W max. GPU).

40x 500-550W PSU comparison test here from December last year: http://us.hardware.info/reviews/5777/500-550-watt-power-supplies-review-40-models-tested (well translated from the original NL into decent English :) )

There will be several others on those sites that might be as good/better in many ways but working through them to find understandable (or any!) reviews is very time consuming.

    Rytas zapuxas!

Looks like the tail end of your topic was lost in the database transfer to the new forum software, did you get my reply about the RAM?
