Not to say that she wasn't a nice person (I have no idea having never met her - but then, not many that claim to ever did either), just misled. It is unfortunate however, that the whole Rosa Parks mythology was pretty much a fabrication of the american left... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosa_Parks (see the "Debated aspects..." section). And there are plenty of other sources of reference.
. There were plenty that preceded her in resisting the bus and other segregation in Montgomery on their own accord, they just were unwilling to play "poster child" for the NAACP.

After seeing this somewhat disparaging post remaining here for most of the day, I checked out the article your referenced from wikipedia. Nowhere in that reading did I come to believe that this was a "fabrication of the american left". The articles seem to outline some disputes about the details of Rosa Parks role that day, but in no way dispute her significance to the civil rights movement.

I am not wanting to start a civil rights debate here, so any response will go unanswered from me if that is where it is headed... but I felt that your comments shouldn't go unanswered.

Rosa Parks was a great person in American history, and she has earned that place. Please don't attempt to take that away from her without ALOT of evidence to back up your opinion.

As I seen (I believe it was Colin Powell) say on tv this afternoon....and I quote..."there were several people that argued for a seat at the front of the bus before her, and so forth, but Rosa Parks came along and she was the spark that was needed to light this movement on fire!!!!"

I don't know if it could have been said any better!!!
