    Hi!

When necessary to shut down or restart our computer, it lingers in the "Windows Shutting Down" message screen and never turns itself off. We have to manually shut it off. We are running Windows XP and this is the only glitch we have. Thoughts...suggestions? Thanks.

    Could be several things
First off i would check your event viewer and see if some service or application is hanging
    Start-Run--Type eventvwr.msc--ok

If its something obvious you may be able to resolve the issue yourself, if not post back with the info and we will see what we can do
Also if you need further assistance please also include your hardware specs ;)

yes please give some hardware specs...... for instance if you have an Nvidia GFX card the driver helper in services needs to be disabled as its prone to slowing shutdown/restart down.

    Hi!

We do see the "Application Hang" message when performing the Start-Run suggestion. How do we release or resolve that?
    Is this additional info helpful:
    IntelĀ®
    PentiumĀ® 4 CPU 2.60Hz

    2.59GHz

    512 MB of RAM

    Thanks!

    Restart issue still unresolved

    Hi!

We're still having the same restart issue and have been unable to resolve it. When necessary to shut down or restart our computer, it lingers in the "Windows Shutting Down" message screen and never turns itself off. We have to manually shut it off. We are running Windows XP and this is the only glitch we have. Thoughts...suggestions? Thanks.

    Re: Restart issue still unresolved

Is this the same PC that you have a problem with email being discussed in the Spyware Forum?

If so, perhaps the cleanup procedures may be helpful. While I cannot say for an absolute fact it is a malware issue, malware can cause problems like this.
