    Hi guys, and gals,

I had my newer laptops fan go kaput, so dug out my old Dell Studio. It hasn't been used since 2013. I want to do a Factory Reset on it but when I follow the instructions in the attached snip, it doesn't have the selection when I start up holding down the F8 key. It beeps, I let go, and get a list of options, but not the one the guy says I need to select.

I know this is an old timer, it has Windows Vista, still working pretty good but I am not sure how to get it totally updated. Suggestions welcome. I may need to use it for some time, Thank you much, Denise

When you go to Start>Computer do you see a recovery partition?

There is the possibility that this laptop doesn't have one. In that case you would need a Vista DVD.

    Denise-

By clicking on Start > Computer - you can quickly see if there's a recovery partition.

Ok, no go. I didn't know what partition meant, another work for Drive? I think I am going to remove all un-needed software that I added ages ago, then get it updated as much as they'll give me (so far about 142). Update my AVG, already updated Firefox. I just don't know what the old Vista will handle. I'm checking about a possible upgrade to Win7. I need to purchase a new screen for the Dell, 2 batteries, one for each laptop (both dead), and at least one fan for my toshiba. Any recommends on where to buy the parts?

Thanks I know it's another subject, but maybe someone can point me to the right thread, thanks guys Denise
