Hi there, sorry to bug all you guys, but I've got a question I was hoping you could help me with.
Two weeks ago I had a crcdisk.sys error which resulted in the need for a clean format. Geek squad installed windows 7 and it works fine. I have a G50V asus laptop 64-bit. Due to the clean format, I lost all of the extra functionality, such as the turbo mode, enhanced power management, and power display on the keyboard. The problem is the asus website offers many downloads but I don't know what to download in order to restore what I want to use. Unfortunately also, the driver disk the laptop came with will only work with vista. I would appreciate any help you guys can give me, and I'd be more than happy to supply any other necessary information needed.

Okay, first question, I would state (and many others)......

    check your device manager.

hit the windows key + R. at that prompt type in:

    devmgmt.msc (press enter)

Do you have any yellow ?'s?

Also, welcome to MajorGeeks. Someone here hopefully, will get your issues fixed.

    Hi

Did the AI suite from ASUS work before you had your PC installed with Windows 7 and was Windows 7 on the PC before or was this an upgrade install from an older version of Windows?

Off hand the AI suite doesnt work too well with Windows 7 as yet, especially with x64 Windows versions, Windows 7 also has a great power managment for laptops and netbooks anyways.

But looking over the downloads for your PC it doesnt list the AI suite (which covers the power and overclocking options) for download.

If you need these apps, then goto this link HERE and add the Windows version you are using to the dropdown, then click utilities for the apps.

huh, since I've moved on to 7, I've ignored the asus tools. Thanks for the tip. :)

This was an upgrade from win vista. The AI Suite worked before too.
You're right though, when trying to reinstall the AI suite it brings up an error saying it'll only work with an asus motherboard, which I find slightly odd.

Guess I just need to wait for them to put it up for download, thanks for all your help guys c:

    Hi Krisha

In Device Manager do you have any yellow ! marks by any devices? plus did you re-install the Chipset driver for your motherboard?

I would try re-installing the chipset driver from HERE, reboot and try the AI Suite from the link above and its named ASUS AI Suite V1.05.46 for Windows 32/64bit Windows XP & Windows Vista & Windows 7.

It may work, but last time I used the software on Windows 7 x64 it was buggy, needs a new update.

@theefool ~ you are like me I have not re-installed the AI Suite and tools, apart from the test I did which to be the app didnt work great.
