I am trying to resolve some spyware issues and am following instructions from the Windows XP Cleaning Procedure post. I am getting the following error when tring to install it:

"The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation."

I've tried running from both my and the administrator profiles and I get the same error message. I am running it in safe mode because the pc is too slow due to whatever nasty infection it has. Thanks in advance.

    Hi eddyfuente,
    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Go to the Windows XP Cleaning Procedure and see if you can get Combofix to run and then try and get the MGTools installed and run. Try Combofix in regular mode first or safe mode if that doesn't work. Attach what logs you can get. Be sure that Spybot's teatimer is disabled. You can disable it by right-clicking on the icon in the taskbar and looking for the option to disable it. You may have to click on Resident Protection to find the disable option. Also, make sure msconfig is set to normal startup. (Go to Start/Run and type in msconfig, hit okay and on the window that opens up, make sure that normal startup is checked, if not check it and click on apply, okay.)
