Allright, heres the deal. I have an old computer with an Intel Pentium MMX processor running at 233 Mhz. It's pretty crappy and the only reason I don't throw it away is because it can connect to the internet. Since proccessors for socket 7 are extreamly cheap (i.e. 10 dollars) I figures "What the hell, why not breath some life into this dieing computer." Ok this might be a stupid question but I just wanna make sure. Can I take an AMD k6-2 400 Mhz processor and use it with the intel 430TX chipset. I know I might have to move some jumpers around for the voltage, but would this AMD CPU work on the intel chipset. If not, what would you recommend for trying to get this CPU past its current 233 Mhz barrier.

    Most likely NO.

Amds and Intel processors run on differnt sockets, so you could not use one on the other.

Also i had a MMX 233mhz processor before, and it could only be upgraded to a 300mhz at the max. So it looks like you wont be able to upgrade much further.

    sorry

What about those evergreen CPU upgrades. Does anyone know where to find them? Otherwise I might just buy a 500Mhz AMD CPU Motherboard combo for 10 bucks. Either way I win and thats all that matters.
