MSN Messenger can save the conversation history automatically into .XML files in a folder on your hard drive. This can be found by:

    1. Open MSN Instant Messenger.
    2. Select "Show Menu" at the top of the screen.
    3. Go to "Tools" and select "Options".
    4. Pick "Messages." Look for "Message History."

At this point you should see the folder name where your conversations are saved. You can then browse this directory using Windows Explorer.

If your messages have been deleted from that folder then:

    a. Use system restore to recover the hard disk back to the point where you deleted the files.
    b. Use a file undeleter utility from here.
    c. Contact your friend that you have had an MSN Messenger conversation with, to get them to send their copies of the conversation.

Was the Belkasoft product the full product or only the demo?

How are you accessing Yahoo mail? If it is on-line via a web browser then the e-mails are stored on the Yahoo mail server. Check to see if your messages are still there using a browser.

If, however, you are using an e-mail program then these can be stored on your hard drive in the proprietary format of the e-mail program. The e-mail program can be configured to remove e-mails stored on the e-mail server, in which case the browser view will be empty.

Which method are you using to access your e-mail? Also, which e-mail program are you using?

Also, which version of Windows are you using?

    See: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms997627.aspx

    and: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/support/sysrestore.mspx

See above articles to see what is restored. I recommend that you make a backup of all your important files, settings and game saves in any case. Also, note any software keys that you had used for installation in case you don't have these to hand for re-installation.

Alternatively, if you know what files you are looking for then use a file undeleter to see if that file can be recovered.

What method did you use to delete the files? Is it a few files or a large number of files that you want to recover?

Hotmail is usually left on the Hotmail server unless you have use an e-mail client to download these and have deleted from the server. If you have deleted from the e-mail server then these are not necessarily recoverable by you. However, there may be cached versions of your Hotmail in your browser history or e-mail client storage.

Why not ask whoever you had chatted to on MSN and Yahoo to send their copes of the files that you want?

Belkasoft has support (http://belkasoft.com/home/en/support.asp) and a forum (http://x.belkasoft.com/forum/) - have you tried using or browsing these?
