Hi, I recently purchased a laptop, but it had some problems, so I want to return it. My problem is that I have stored some passwords and other sensitive information on it, and I know that companies often resell the computers that are returned to them as "refurbished." Is there any way that I can erase the hard-drive or whatever to make them unretrievable?

Yes and I have listed this one above others as it supports CD/CDRW over a floppy version as most laptops these days dont have a floppy drive.
