Ride for the Rescue

Ride for the Rescue is an important event for the Rescue Mission. For those who don't know it's a homeless shelter and citizen reintegration program: It helps people who have nothing rejoin society and get back on their feet. Every day of the year, they are serving the needy in the community and helping them to become independent citizens.

My friend Dan Mumford is riding in this marathon to raise money and awareness for the Rescue Mission. It's a great cause, and a great program. I donated myself and I was wondering if any of my lovely geeks wanted to as well.

They are excepting donations online either with a credit/debit or Paypal. Please support the cause if you have the ability to do so. Otherwise send good thoughts his way. It's a 40 mile ride, and he'll need all the good juju he can get.

Hundreds of bicyclists raise more than $100,000 for Rescue Mission

Bikers of all ages took part in the Family Fun Ride at the Rescue Mission's Ride for the Rescue fundraiser this morning. The race started on West Kilpatrick Street in Syracuse's Inner Harbor.

Despite downpours, hundreds of bicyclists participated in today's Ride for the Rescue, a fundraiser for the Rescue Mission.

Paul LaDolce, communications director for the Rescue Mission, said more than 300 cyclists rode for the event at the Inner Harbor, raising more than $100,000 for charitable programs for the poor.

In addition to a series of rides ranging from 62 miles to two miles long, the event includes music and food back at the Inner Harbor.
