When I try to right click on a text document on my desktop and print it, it fails. (I can print from the "file" menu when the document is opened.

This is the error message: C:\p C:\users\myname\desktop\test.txt cannot be opened.
File C:\p C:\users\myname\desktop\test.txt does not exist.

There is something glitched in the registry or elsewhere; I have no idea how to identify and fix this.
This issue has been a problem since I upgraded to Windows version 20h2.

    Any ideas?

Is this document a shortcut or the original document?

    The original document.
Only .txt documents seem to be affected.

Can you give us a screenshot of the document Properties?

If you right click your desktop and create a new text document, do you get the same error when right click printing?

    I figured out the problem.
When I upgraded, the first program I installed was something called "Notepad Replacer." It forced my machine to use Notepad ++ (which I love) rather than the vanilla Notepad.exe.
And it screwed the right click print option BECAUSE notepad++ doesn't use the same print paramaters as does notepad.
Thank you for your help; now I need to figure out how to set .txt files to open with notepad++ in another way. :)

Type 'default' into Search - you will soon find it :D

    *grins* I've done that.
It took a BIT more work than that.
Notepad Replacer fouled up the print command for textfiles in the registry. I was able to figure out what it did wrong; it removed some quotation marks.
(Or I did, trying to fix the registry. One of us did, at any rate. Musta been Notepad Replacer. YEAH, lets go with that, ok?)
So I can get it to print when I want to, and open with Notepad++.
Now my head hurts; is it my turn to buy the beer?
