so the other day i was using my computer and i noticed that right click wasnt always responding on the first try and that gestures in firefox would screw up alot, the next day it took alot more tries to get right click to work, now the third day right click doesnt work at all. i figured the mouse was broken so i got a different one and that one didnt work either, i tried with two other mice that i new were working and none of them were able to right click. i can use the button on the keyboard to right click. im using windows xp professional and ive scanned for spyware and viruses and nothing came up. last note, one of the mice was wireless and working but the reciever light didnt blink when i right clicked which it should so does that mean the reciever wasnt even recognizing the right button?

I would use the buttons to rightclick My Computer, click manage, click device manager, click mice and pointing devices, click driver, click uninstall.
Shut down and restart computer, and Windows should replace the faulty driver.

Weird. Have you tried a USB mouse? Maybe the PS2 logic circuit on the motherboard is messed up.... try a USB mouse and let us know what happens.

ok i uninstalled the driver and restarted. it worked fine for a minute then got really buggy. left click occasionally acted as right click and right click would act like i was holding it down after tapping it. hitting the buttons a few times it went back to normal for a minute then went back to being buggy. (btw this is the second time typing this because i went to hit submit and right click was somehow being read as held down and gestures closed the page on me)rolleyes

I'll say it again- try a USB mouse. I think your PS2 mouse port's circuit has gone haywire.

I would have thought that Hopperdave's suggestion (USB mouse) might be the answer, but as it has not worked, it is possible that a program, or, download has corrupted Windows files.
    To repair this --
Restart computer, and press F8, as it restarts, this should take you to start up choices.
    Choose safe mode.
As you have not said which operating system you are using, I assume it is Xp.
    Then,
Go to start, run, and type in sfc /scannow.
Put your XP disc in the cd/dvd rom and keep pressing retry, - this can happen repeatedly, and could take up to an hour, depending on your pc.
The very slowly moving bar must get to the finish.

This replaces any corrupted, or, damaged Windows files.
    This should solve it.
