Pretty neat. Upload the mp3 you want. Cut out the section you want and save it for your phone.

    .amr for older phones
    .m4r for iPhones
    and of course .mp3

There is a bit of a social networking component to it as well.

I've been using this for a while.

Good stuff. I only question what the RIAA thinks about it :p

So excuse my ignorance, but can you use it for any carrier.....like Verizon?

Does this mean I don't actually have to pay Verizon to upload songs to my phone?

I put them on an micro SDHC card. Copy them into the sounds folder, and then send them to myself.

    1. Pop it into the phone, send a new picture message. Attach the sound. When you receive it, you can save it as a ringtone.

So the only cost is the picture message. I do this as a big finger to VZW, because I refuse to pay 3 bucks for a ringtone, when I can buy an mp3 for 89 cents.

The other option if thats too much work is http://www.myxertones.com/

Me = so clueless when it comes to cell phones. :rolleyes

How does one get them onto a micro sdhc card?

Put it in a reader in your computer ;)

Verizon sells one for cheap, but I imagine you can get one cheaper elsewhere.

You also need a micro SD card for your phone. micro SDHC cards are 4gb+ in size, and arent compatible with all phones.

roflmao at myself. I feel like such a noob.

So I found a slot in my laptop that I didn't know I had. :-D It says SDMMC. So, all this time I could have been putting my camera memory card right in my puter instead of the usb wire. rolleyes Is that the one?

lmao...nm...I think I may be better off paying for the songs.

Don't be ridiculous. I'll walk ya through it.

    1. Purchase a micro SD card. We will assume your phone supports it.
    2. Purchase a reader. Some micro SD cards come with an SD adapter for regular readers. They don't always work. Here is a link to the one I use. http://sandisk.com/Products/ProductInfo.aspx?ID=1220 I got it for 8 dollars.
    3. Put the micro SD card into your phone at least once so that it gets formatted.
    4. Make your ringtone, download it to the desktop.
    5. Put the card into the reader, the reader into the machine's USB port.
    6. Open the my_sounds folder and copy the ringtone there.
    7. Put it back in your phone and send a picture message attaching that sound to yourself.
    8. Receiving the message, save it as a ringtone.

    Viola!

Or..PM me for another alternative. Its legal and all, but its an exclusive offer to you only.

Ok...that sounds pretty easy. I think I can handle that. Unless your special offer is even easier, in which case, by all means PM me.:-D;)

Jeez, this will thrill my daughter to no end since I don't allow her to buy ringtones.

When I try to do this step is says:

"Cannot copy 'Song name': The disk is write-protected. Remove the write-protection or use another disk."

:( k...so what does that mean, and how can I fix it.

Yep, got it all figured out. I even downloaded some software that resizes mp3 files since some were too big. Works like a charm. Unfortunately it is only free for the 30 day trial period.

I don't get why you can just use the songs you have in the my sounds folder as ringtones though.

    Blame Verizon ;)

Audacity can probably do the same, and its free.

Is it true that that kind of thing is called Webware, or did i just make up a word?
