    LOL.

I was out yesterday evening in the rain, but the water seems to have buggered up my phone. The screen cannot be touched. I'm having to use a USB hub to connect a keyboard and a mouse to compose this post.

I've had a problem like this before, but I think it just came to. But this time, I believe my phone could be knackered.

It was flashing green, etc. Now it's half purple and seems to be screwed. But I don't get my benefits in until next week. So this ain't good, since this is the only phone I have. :(

Is putting your phone in a baggy of rice to absorb the water still a thing?

Yeah -- rice is a myth. Unless you are making the rice for lunch while you wait for the phone to dry.

Hopefully, you can Turn it off
Avoid shaking or tilting the phone
    Remove any cases
    Eject SIM and SD cards
Dry the exterior with a soft cloth
Place the phone in a dry, well-ventilated area
I like to turn the phone so any buttons face down and on paper towels.
    Swap paper towels as needed
    Wait a day+
Typically water issues will have a good chance to solve itself -- sugar water like soda -- you're screwed.

Keyboards don't like that either. ...

My Logitech keyboard did okay when dried after half a glass of filtered water got spilled on it but a few weeks later the same can't said for the glass of bourbon and coke that was knocked over when I was opening a large printer box on my desk. Even after a 15 minute swim in my ultrasonic cleaner tank with 20 litres of distilled water and then a large can of CRC Contact Cleaner and a blow dry with dry compressed air.......this still couldn't get all the sticky sugar out of the key switches. Coke or soda is the worst:eek:
Oh well I told myself that I wanted a new keyboard anyway

I have had good luck with wet mobile phones by turning them off and then sitting them about two feet away in the airstream of a hair dryer left on the lowest heat setting. Depending how wet or if it is particularly humid dictates how long to leave it drying. On a normal sort of dry day I find three or four hours works and if there is high humidity then double the time.
Another method that works if you have access to lots of the little sachets of dessicant that comes in some electronics equipment then put 10 to 20 sachets into a ziplok plastic bag with the phone and leave for 24 hours. Many years ago I used to have access to boxes of the dessicant sachets but now I hardly ever see them so now I try the hair dryer method.

Good idea about the dessicant! I save all those packets that are in boxes of shoes and handbags. I used to use the crystals to dry flowers so I have a whole container of it that I purchased. You might be able to buy some at a craft store.

    I have a new Samsung phone. :p

That other phone was decent. But it wasn't worth repairing. I just wish they all had HDMI output, but it's only ever the overpriced ones that do.

I need a new phone myself. For Christmas I bought my son his first phone, for high school, and used my annual upgrade on it. I got a $300 for literally $20. Fast forward two weeks later, and I dropped my own phone on the floor when I was visiting my daughter in the hospital and cracked the entire screen. Oops. New phones aren't in the plan right now, I stopped working at the end of February, but someday that's a thing I need to do.

That's the phone I had. I owned a white one. It must have came out in 2015. My friend gave it to me. I had been using another phone before that, so it was intended as a spare.

I cannot remember the make of the other phone, but it was black. May have been Alcatel, which is a subsidiary of Nokia.
