Is this going to be just another one of those rip off soft wares . . .
I purchased Uniblue because Major Geeks recommended it
to get rid of this specific Trojan (WFV3.tmp), and now they
recommend that I purchase Uniblue Speed Up . . .

Not only that, since I installed Uniblue, I have another file
in the temp that the software won’t remove . . .RIP OFF

    Welcome to Majro Geeks!

Why are you posting this in the Malare Removal Forum. Your problem with UniBlue not a malware problem. If you don't like their software then you should speak to them and ask for a refund.

Just because UniBlue recommends that you purchase their Speed Up program it does not mean you have to listen to them. I wouldn't.

The issue with WFV3.tmp may or may not even be malware. It all depends on whether you also have the other files and registry problems mentioned in the below link:

    http://www.threatexpert.com/report.aspx?uid=bda1e474-225c-422c-9811-c0d1114b9741

I suggest that you follow all of the below instructions so that we can find out if this is malware.

First run this Running GMER to detect rootkits and attach the log from GMER. Attach this log and then continue on with the below instructions. (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post )

Now please follow the instructions in the below link and attach the requested logs when you finish these instructions.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide
    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
    • Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.
    Notes:

    1. If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
    2. If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

Thank you for your reply . .
I believe that other people like me may have the
same problem, and I don't want them duped into
    purchasing something that doesn't work.
I have contacted Uniblue but haven't received
    a response.

I have seen your reply on another response . . .
the part that worked was to remove McAfee. I still
get the .dat file but not the tmp file. Again, no
need for Uniblue, so I hope that others don't
purchase it when Spybot did a better job FREE.

    You're welcome.

So you are saying that when you uninstalled McAfee the C:\Windows\temp\WFV3.tmp file disappeared or was deleteable??

Which dat file are you referring to exactly? Where is it located?

I must say that I really appreciate your correspondence and inquiry chaslang.
    Most people don't care.

The files that keep appearing in my C:\Windows\temp
    are:
    WGAErrLog.txt
    WgaNotify.settings
    Perflib_Perfdata_****.dat

The **** refers to different numbers that are
assigned to the file . . . the last one cannot be
removed but I can delete the others . . .

I am having difficulty locating the software
that this is associated with, or I would remove
    that also.

Again, thanks for your concern. That alone
doesn't make me feel like all is wasted.

    You're welcome.

You don't need to worry about them as they are part of Windows itself. The letters WGA stand for Windows Genuine Advantage which is used by Windows to determine whether or not your copy of Windows is genuine. And the Perflib files are part of performance monitoring programs.

    Thanks chaslang.
Then why has it just started appearing
    since I removed MacAfee . . .
Once again, I really appreciate all your help

Unknown! Unless McAfee was just getting in the way of WGA running properly.
