ROM drive disappears when CD inserted

Hi guys

I have an external MSI dvd writer. It works perfect on my laptop. But on my customer's laptop, the icon in My Computer disappears as soon as a disc is inserted. When I eject the disc, the icon reappears back in My Computer.

I have caught a few trojans (winntR2 series) and removed them already. But the icon disappearing act still continues. Does anyone have any idea? Thanks in advance!:cool
