Rootkit software

JimLL I can't follow the rules

XP Pro, SP3, current updates, ThinkPad T60p, damaged brain in the nut that holds the wheel

I had reason to believe I had a rootkit, because ZoneAlarm kept disappearing after many runs of several major anti-malware programs and RootkitRevealer said I had some stuff.

    My question is this.

Does anyone know these tools? Why would one, RootKitRevealer (sub of MS) and Phobos Anti-Rootkit recommended here show completely different results?

RootKitRevealer shows 17 indicators of rootkits.

    Anti-Rootkit shows absolutely nothing.

Is this because AntiRootkit knows how to look for actual rootkits (I don't know if it does or not) and RootKitRevealer merely looks for possible indications?
