RootRepeal issue

First of all, RootRepeal won't run on my machine. Screenshot attached. Is this due to malware/rootkits, or simply a dysfunctional program in the first place?

Secondly, are there any good free rootkit scanners that remove rootkits? I'm trying the Sophos Anti-Rootkit at the moment, but only found out about it via a Google search, so I'm not sure if it's even worth anything.

I understand this is most likely a malware problem, but the computer I'm trying to fix is almost unusable at the moment so I'd rather not try to get all the logs, etc. to start a thread in the Malware Forum yet.

 

Well, the right answer is to go through the steps in the malware forum, providing any logs you can get.

But if this is not practical for you right now, you can try an on-line scan at;

Click the Online Scanner button on the bottom.

It'll probably take a couple of hours. And this is not as good of help as what you would get in the Malware Forum.

I've already gone through the malware removal steps on the machine... however, the main problem I'm experiencing is with the mouse/keyboard malfunctioning (and I've ruled out the peripherals being the issue). I'm convinced it's either a malware or a driver/software conflict.

I simply wanted to know if there's a different/better rootkit scanner out there.

Am I to understand that the online ESET scanner includes rootkit detection?

 

i believe it does and I've also used sophos as it supports a 64 bit system.

RootRepeal won't run on a 64bit OS. If you're on x86 mention the issue & post you're logs in Malware removal. Either ways post the logs and have the experts review them.
