    Hi,
Thanks again for any help. I have a Netgear router model WGT624v2 I set it up about 3 months ago. At first it worked just fine and then after a few weeks one morning it wouldn't work but then after shutting it down along my DSL box ect it worked again. Then a few more weeks went by and it did the same thing.

Now once again yesterday morning out of the blue it stop working. I could not sign on at all or access the Internet. I have tried shutting everything down and reinstalling it again about 7 times now with no luck.

Normally 3 symbols on the router plus 1 port will light up. At this point only 2 of the symbols plus 1 port are lighting up. The one that isn't lighting up looks like an small i with a loop at the bottom. I did nothing different with the computer as far as updates on the computer or on the virus software or firewall. I even tried shutting the firewall off and installing it but nothing is helping.

Is it possible there is something wrong with the router? I did read that this model can over heat often. I do keep it in a cooler place but it still runs pretty hot.

If it is the router can someone suggest to me a better router to buy?

    Thanks again,
    Jill

Could be that both the Router & modem (some have DHCP servers in them) are operating on the same IP, if the Router is set for PPPoE, it somehow got the settings wiped out, or was never set that way.

There should be a light for power, one for WiFi, WAN connection, then the Switch lights (can be four of them, or only one LAN light). The small i with the Loop is the WiFi, which means that someone or yourself disabled the WiFi radio.

    Hi brownizs
Thanks for your reply. This gives me a starting point to fix this thing. If by chance I or someone else disabled the WiFi radio how can I go about enabling it?

I tried again to reinstall the router tonight and I now am getting a message saying it needs to reset my isp??? My DSL doesn't require an exact isp. The router as I said was running fine here and there for weeks at a time so at one time it was set right for it to work and now not sure what to do to fix what ever went wrong.

In order to change the settings, you need to go into the login page. Take a break and read the manual on it, either online @ netgear.com, or it should be on a CD that came with it.

    Hi,
Thanks again for your reply. I have already been to the login page and checked all the settings. That was one of the first things that I did and they are all the same as when I set it up originally. That is why Im thinking something could be wrong with the router its self.

i just looked a picture of the model router you have and the light that isnt coming on is the one that you plug the cable from your dsl modem to. so make sure the the cable is plugged in good to the router and dsl modem. try connecting your computer directly to the dsl modem and see if your can get on the internet.
