Router not sending packets?

Hey guys. I've got this little Belkin 4-port wireless router, and it gives me the strangest problem.

When I try to connect my laptop to the wireless AP, my Vista laptop will get as far as "identifying" and then hang, telling me I've got limited or no connectivity.When I take a look at the Status of the network connection when this problem occurs, there is a unvarying symptom: while my wireless card is sending out packets to the router, the "Recieving" column always displays zero packets. What could be causing this?

I have a couple ideas in my head, but all of them have exceptions:

1) I've got my reciever too close to my transmitter. I get this idea because I have some radioes for my Army stuff that have the problem of transmitting too much power and ruining comms. My counter to this is that I've had it working fine as close as it is now (about 3 inches from the router), and I still have the problem accross the room.

2)Maybe it's mt wireless reciever. It's built into my laptop, so it's possible that it's defective. This is supported by one of my battle buddies using my router for his PSP and PS3, and never having any problems with it. However, I've never lost signal on this laptop. I either have it, or I don't.

Anyone have an anecdote for me, or some advice? Thanks, Roland.

 

check for interfering devices such us halogen lamps, microwaves. if you have you should at least move it away from the router.also reset the router and reconfigure it.also ping the nic for both computers so that you can conclude which has the problem
