I currently use the uBEE Docsis 2.0 Cable Modem and Router DDW2600. I believe it's shorting out and I was looking for a good recommendation for routers? I tried researching it, but does anyone know how good the one I got is? On some websites it goes for $40, but in terms of speed, it does not list speeds like other modems online.

On a side note: I called the internet company and they said they are showing that I am getting internet. Now baring any lies they might be telling me, they said to connect an actual wire from the box to my laptop skipping the router. But it is mostly flickering at random. it will go hours before messing up, then I run to the router, and before I can plug in it start, then runs fine for another 20 minutes before restarting the annoying process

I have moved this thread to the networking forum where it will get a more targeted response.

Do you have a separate modem and router? If so, the modem will be getting internet but if the router is acting up it won't be passing it on.

If they are the same unit then one part of it might be working and one might not be.

As the unit is broken, unplug it from the mains, and phone the internet company again. Then when they run their tests, tell them the truth that it is shorting out, and as their tests will come back negative, they should send you a free replacement. As the router is broken this is completely ethical in my opinion.

    It's separate.

Did the internet company provide the router?

Yeah, they gave us a new one, and it is doing okay, but looking online, I see there might be ones way better, faster, better range, and more secure for under $100.

OK, if you are looking for an upgrade anyway, I can recommend the WRT54G (or any subsidiary model such as GL or GS) as a rock steady router.
