    i feel bad for even posting this but,
    i dont know much, well anything, about networking.

    here's the question:
    what purpose is assigned to each of the 25 wires in a db-25 connector?

    this is for a class, i know it has something to do with pins.. but i'm at a loss for how to answer it
    please help!

    It is called a Serial Port, it is an input in and out port for the computer.
    Not to long ago it was the main port for the Mouse.
    External DialUp Modem uses it.
    Currently many of it usage was taking over by the USB port.
