Hi, your site is wonderful, thanks for providing this resource.

I have run all the steps in the "Read and Run Me First" Sticky, and I am attaching my Bitdefender and Panda Activescan logs. Please help me remove my remaining viruses and spyware! Thanks,

    Ann

<< The installed version of Java on this compter is out-dated. Install version 1.5.0_07 available from http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp. Uninstall all older versions of Java on your computer, before installing the latest version of Java. >>

    Download
    - Pocket Killbox
    - ExplorerXP

Follow the directions for Running Hoster.

Now Run HijackThis. Click the 'Do a system scan only' button. Place a checkmark in the box next to the following lines:
Click on the 'Fix checked' button. Wait for HijackThis to finish; close HijackThis.

    Now run Pocket Killbox:

Choose Tools -> Delete Temp Files and click the RED X.

Run Killbox.exe. Paste the below filenames into KILL BOX one at a time. Check mark the box that says "Delete on Reboot" and checkmark the box "Unregister DLL" (If available) Click the RED X and it will ask you to confirm the file for deletion say YES and when the next box opens prompting you to reboot now...click NO...and proceed with the next file. Once you get to the last one click YES and it will reboot. Note many of the file list below may not exist but we need to check for them anyway.
If Killbox does not reboot or you get a Pending Operations type error message just reboot your PC yourself.

    Now boot into SAFE MODE

Open ExplorerXP navigate to and DELETE the following: (Some of these may have already been deleted by Pocket Killbox)
Now run CCleaner. If you have Windows XP delete the contents of C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch.

Then, as an added precaution, Go to Start -> Run and type: cleanmgr and then click OK. Make sure the boxes for these are checked:
    Temporary Files
    Temporary Internet Files
    Recycle Bin

    And Click OK.

    REBOOT to Normal Mode.

    Post a fresh HijackThis log.

Thank you for your comprehensive response!

I have attempted to do everything you asked...the only issues I had were that:

    1) Killbox did not ask to confirm the file for deletion, it would only say "the file will be deleted on reboot, would you like to reboot now" I would click no and go on to the next file until it was the last one.

    2) Explorer XP would shut itself down every time I got to the point where I was trying to open the last folder in the series to get to the files. It happened several times, so then I went to the regular Windows Explorer to see if the files were there. In every case they were not - I assume they were deleted by Killbox? I don't know what the problem with Explorer XP was.

I have attached my new HijackThis log.

    Thanks so much!

    Ann

I can't follow the first step - I have Microsoft 2000, which I can only assume is "Microsoft Millenium." But when I right click on "My Computer" and select properties," there is no performance tab. Under "Advanced," there is something about performance, but it has nothing to do with troubleshooting or system restore.

Secondly, I now seem to be having some sort of other problem. I have restarted 4 times since my last post, and three of those four times, there has been this weird window that pops up. It says "AVG AntiVirus System" and under that there are options "Program" "View" "Service" and "Information". But the window itself is clear, I can see my wallpaper. And when I try to close the window or click on any of the desktop icons, I can't do any of it. The only thing I can do is click on the Start menu and restart the computer.

Can you tell me what is going on?!

    Thanks, Ann

2000 is not Millenium, they are 2 different OSes.

    Unistall AVG, then reinstall
