I think this is a software issue, though I don't really know enough about PC's to be sure of even that. I have a collection of games that I installed from a disk. The software is a collection from eGames. I've been using them for quite some time. Suddenly, when I try to open the shorcut, I get a message which says "Run-time error '48': File not found: Addon 2VB.DLL
This also occurs if I try to start it from the CD. Aida 32 tells me this about my system:
    Windows ME 4.90.3000
    AMD Athlon-PECM, 1200 MHz (4.5x267)
    VIA VT8364A Apollo KL133A / VT8365A ProSavage KM133A
    240 MB (PC133 SDRAM)
    AMI (07/20/01)
    This is a Gateway computer.

Now, if there is some info missing that I need to tell you , please let me know. It looked like that was all the important stuff, based on your README. Thanks for any suggestions.

have you reinstalled the game package?
Have you tried installing MS VB again?
DLL errors are usually caused by a corupted Dll, the soluion is as simple as finding out what installed that dll and reinstalling it to repair it.

I'll try reinstalling the game. I do not have a CD for the system. This computer came to me from a friend who wanted to get a new one & he did not have the install disks any more.

it's probably not a system dll or windows would not boot. Try downloading and installing the latest version of microsoft visual basic runtime. That usually fixes some dll issues.

I have the same problem as this and to workaround the problem I created a shortcut to the eGames that are installed. The games on my system are at C:\Programs Files\eGames and there is a directory per game. Create a shortcut on your Desktop or wherever to the game located in that directory. The game runs without error.

The problem is caused by a botched installation on the eGames CD that runs the main user interface to all the games. You don't need this interface in order to run the individual game.

I don't particularly like the eGames since they post adverts (when the game finishes) to games on the net for which my kids can gain access to.

Thanks to all who replied. I did re-install & that seemed to fix the problem. But since I have so many other little strange things happening, I also downloaded the 2 suggested files. :)
