Running An External Monitor With Laptot

    Hi guys, I'm kind of new to computers and I would like to get some help from you folks, I just purchased a 19" lcd monitor which I'm running with my laptot, the only problem that I'm having is that when I try to watch a video using windows media player the same video(images) will show on my laptop but I'm not able to watch it on my externarl monitor, other than that everything seems to work fine any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
