my ISP provider only gave me 2 available mac address and now i have a third computer that cant hook up to the internet because of this. Is there anyway i can have 2 computer share a single mac address or have one computer connect to the internet through another?

It is a mistake to use the two IPs directly from a modem to computers..

By doing so, you basically creating at home a Network that is based on two external addresses (IPs) and it is part of the whole Internet. You privacy can be easily compromised by such an arrangement.

In any case you are lucky adding a third computer would give you the chance to do it the right way.

You need to use only one IP and a Wireless Cable/DSL Router.

The content of the following links will provide you with a basic tutorial about Sharing Internet and using Wire & Wireless; it is short and to the point. Few of the pages were written by me ages ago. You might ignore the prices, and the specific choice of hardware, stick with the principles, they are still the same.

    Routing is a must.

The devices are sold with Wireless capacity you do not have to use it if you do not want.

My old DSL company had the router set to give me 4 IPs and I could actually get 5 if I did a static set up. Go to start> run and type ipconfig /all
and give us the netmask.. it will be 255.255.255.x..something..
