Just wanted to start up a log here, to get all my info out there and keep u guys posted on my OC adventures lol. ill start out with my rig:

    socket 478 pentium 4 3.0ghz
    ASUS p4p800-e deluxe
    1 gig Crucial Ballistix pc3200 2-2-2-6 STOCK
    Thermaltake 430W PSU
    XFX 6800Xtreme Edition 350/1000

    and a bit of history:

It all started with my Sony VAIO in 2004: p4 3.0, geforce 5200, 512mb RAM, 200gig hdd...state of the art at the time lol

had that for a while then decided to get some new RAM and a PSU. got the stuff, found out the PSU didnt fit lol. Got a new case, pulled it all out of the VAIO case and stuck it in the new case. I eventually killed my mobo lol and so i bought an ASUS p4p800-e deluxe; expensive for its age but its awesome!

FIRST thing i did lol, was OC the biotch. ran it at about 3.2 for quite a while then i bought some more fans for the case. ran it at 3.4 for a while longer. Then i decided to step it up a notch and invest in a water cooling setup

I figured that it would be a while before i could build a whole new rig so I thought id get as much out of it as I could. so far ive invested over $600 lol in a computer that was pretty much already far past its prime lol

Water cooling installed, ran it at 3.6 for a bit then my windows boot system got corrupted and I had to repair install (i was an OC noob lol, i think it had been unstable the whole time haha)

After doing lotsa research and spending hours and hours tweaking, i finally got it optimized and stable at 3.6 @ 1.425v, my memory at pc4100 2.5-3-3-6 @ 2.75v and my video card at 500 core/1300 memory

im going to see how far I can push this biotch and figured id just start my log on here. ive got some free time tomorrow, hopefully I can hit 3.7. My final goal, realistic or not, is 4 mother-f***in ghz lol:major :major :major

any comments or whatnot are welcome

do some Super PI 1m runs stock and at 3.6ghz to see how much proformance.

to check stability run orthos but keep a eye on your temps. those p4's kick out heat.

    yea i should mention:

its an infamously hot prescott core but do not fear, water cooling is here lol
    Temps @ 3.6:
    idle: 38-40C
    load: 46-48C

Orthos ran 8 hours no errors @ 3.6

super pi results to come tomorrow

    UPDATE:

    stable at 3.79 ghz @ 1.5v
    RAM 2.5-3-3-6 @ 1.85v pc3300

benchmarks coming soon, ill try to make a nice graph in excel

    notes:
i can get it to boot at 3.9 but it crashes under anything strenuous. max voltage im willing to throw at it is 1.55v but thats .15v over Intel specs

maybe ill try to get to 4ghz just for :crap's and giggles even though it prolly wont be stable

SCRATCH THAT! while it passed a 3 hour run of OCCT, i ran it with Orthos to double check and it failed after an hour...CRAP! lol

well, its back down to 3.67 as of now and when i get some extra time ill fiddle around a bit more to see what I can do

ok so ive got a problem now...the other day i was playing a game and POW! crash and restart. Gets to windows loading screen, i get a BSOD. get into the bios, drop it back to 3.4ghz, relax my mem timings, using the voltage i found stable previously (i think it was like 1.425v) Boot up, another BSOD. WTF?! ran it stock for a few days, the slowness KILLED me so i started from scratch. THis round im trying to focus on memory speed rather than processing speed. Timings @ 2-2-2-7 @ 2.75v pc3400 (CPU @ 3.2ghz) Benchmarks are MUCH better over stock, it actually surprised me.

Another thing, I turned on the memory acceleration mode (PAT) in the BIOS and got into windows, ran some more benchmarks, and it REALLY helped a lot. restarted, did some more tweaking, more benchmarks...but this time it doesnt report that PAT is on. Went back into BIOS, its still urned on. Rebooted with settings that had previously allowed PAT ad it still isnt working...any ideas?
