Running Spybot?

    I have a quick question. I'm following the TO-DO guide before posting. I have downloaded Spybot as mentioned. I have done the preliminary settings and all.

    My question is when do I run the application in the process as I don't see it mentioned again? Does it matter when I run it?

    Doh... Can't believe I missed that!

    Thanks I will go do that. One more question I was trying to do the GetrunKey & ShowNew and I got errors. getRunKey eventually worked but Shownew doesn't I just get the error listed in the picture.

    Shownew Error?

    When I run GetRunKey and Shownew I get a Dos subsystem16 error. The Getrunkey appears to finish after awhile but the Shownew doesn't i just get the following error as shown in picture.

    Read a little closer, they explain everything. By the way, I merged your threads together, please stay in one thread with the same problem.
    Just for a reference, I will post the initial instructions since there seems to be some minor confusion.

    Help with System running Funny...

    My PC has been acting kinda funny since I had my nephews over this weekend. It seems to be running slower and I get popups occasionally now. Could I get an opinion on my logs.

    You need to correct the problems related to the error messages. As BJ already said, these errors were described to you in the download links for both GetRunKey and ShowNew. They tools did not run properly due to these errors. After doing what is suggested in the links, you need to get new logs and attach them.

    You also need to download, install, and rename HijackThis from our link given in step 7. Follow our directions. You do not have the current version of HijackThis Version 2 and we prefer that you use the 1.99.1 version from our link anyway.

    Also you need to stay in one thread for this current PC problem. You keep starting new threads and we keep merging them back to your first thread. Post all remaining communication for these current issues on your PC in this thread.


    BJ will continue to help you or someone else since I will be gone for the next week.

    Sorry I was under the impression I was to do either part 1 or 2 not both for the showkeys/getnew fix. I also didn't realize about the multiple posts as I was thinking it was two different things. I know for next time.

    I have done part one for the fix and have redone the logs.

    What about the new HJT log using what we requested in step 7? Make sure it is installed and renamed as requested.

    I'm not seeing any malware issues in anything you have posted thus far. Please explain what malware problems you are still having.

    Just to be on the safe side, let's run a rootkit scan but I don't expect to find any. Run this: Using Sophos Anti-Rootkit and attach the requested log.
