I have a question about scaling the picture my TV displays using S-Video.

I right click the NVidia icon near the time on my taskbar and select "TV Output", then I'm able to scale the picture using the menu. However, I'm unable to make the settings stick. The picture doesn't stay. Even if I save a new preset using the new screen size, they do not stay that way if I change over to that preset
Is there a way to fix this? Be it with another program, or a new driver.

(I'm using Media Player Classic to view my videos, the CCCP codec pack, Windows XP SP2, and an NVidia GeForce 6800 Ultra Graphics Card. Just throwing that all in there incase any of that matters/helps.)

    Thanks in advance.

Don't mean to double post, but it looks like my post is being pushed down extremely fast.

Does nobody out there have any ideas to fix this? Anything that will help keep my screen sized the way I like would be greatly appreciated.

    hey

Im just gonna tell u what i did in order to display using s-video.

Get into your display setting, and you should see 2 display setting. First one should be for your monitor second for your s-video. Select it and check off the boxes you want below, extend, or use as default. Once you press ok the video will appear.

    Well i hoped that helped.

Thanks for the post, but I have no problem getting a picture using S-Video. I'm able to watch videos off my computer on my TV without problem. It's the size that's an issue. Whenever I play a video, a good deal of the outside is cut off.

I can shrink the image temporarily. Though after the video I'm watching is over I have to resize my picture so that it'll all fit again.

So what I'm asking is how to get my screen to stay the same size I tell it to.

The only other thing i can think of is going to NVidia website and downloading there most recent driver. Also sometimes they have like a seperate program that you can download that allows you to manage such an issue.

Any idea where I might be able to find these programs? I wouldn't even know where to start (besides Google) since I don't really know what I'm looking for.

ok this is what i got

    http://www.nvidia.com/page/forceware_geforce.html

at the end of the page there is a bunch of additional software. Read about them and download the one you want. Might have to try a couple of them.

    Anywat hope that helps.

So far none of that is working. I simply cannot get windows to stay the size I set them.

What kind of TV do you have? Make/Model...

Most TV's are VERY low resolution TV's. What you can display on the computer is usually much better than what you can display on the TV.

You have to find out what the max resolution of your TV is. I use a 27" JVC that fits the screen perfectly at 1024x768, dunno if that's how all other 27" TVs are, but just for your reference.

Make sure you right click on the desktop and go to properties, click on the settings tab, click on the 2nd display, and play with the resolution there until everything fits on your screen good.

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure what model it is. It's a Mitsubishi, but I can't find it on the Mitsubishi site. It's not ancient by any means. It's 3, maybe 4 years old. 50" TV. I'm only able to use two resolutions on it. 800x600 and 1024x768. This isn't the problem, however. I don't think.

When I run videos off my PC on my TV, a good portion of the video is cut-off along the edges. The ammount of video being cut off is the same on both 800x600 and 1024x768. So that leads me to believe resolution has nothing to do with the problem.

I'm able to scale the video using nVidia's driver software, but the settings only last as long as the video. If I change videos, or reset the media player, the settings revert to default, and I'm forced to resize my picture again.

    Okay.

So, I've given the thread quite a while to air out before posting again, but this is still a problem for me.

It's no longer a matter of I'd like to solve this problem. I need to solve it. :p

I'd like to run some cable to my TV in the living room, and be able to watch videos from my PC inside my room on the big screen. However, if this problem keeps up, that'll make it less than worth the money it'd take to have this done. :\

It's not the resolution. It's not the videos. It's not the TV. I've tried resizing my screen using the nVidia Display Options, but the settings are only temporary, and are reset each time the playlist goes down.

If anybody has any suggestions, they'd be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

I've FINALLY managed to find a fix for my TVs overscan problem. I'll post the exact quote that saved my sanity.
