    Hello everyone.

    I am trying to install DirectX SDK (June 2010) on my desktop PC, (Windows 10.)
    I have tried all the suggested solutions found on the web.
    Almost everyone suggesting to solve this problem one only needs to
    uninstall Visual C++ 2010 redists.
    I have done that, as a matter of fact I have uninstalled all
    Visual C++ redists, I have tried to install it in safe mode,
    disabled antivirus, disabled UAC, run it as an admin, run it while standing on
    my head and juggling knives while clicking install, nothing worked.

    It doesn't happen very often that I can't find a solution for a PC problem
    but I am at the end of my patience with this one.

    Could someone please help me as it is driving me nuts, i need it in order
    to be able to install frotnite for my kid. :)
    Reinstalling windows is really not an option right now.

    Thank you.

    Version 2010 is rather old for W10. You might face compatibility issues with that alone. It was considered legacy, when W8.1 was released. However, there has been the specific issue, you report. It was announced by KB 2717426 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...or-when-you-install-the-directx-sdk-june-2010
    There was a work-around at that time ...not sure it will work with W10 https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/ch...ectx-sdk-june-2010-setup-and-the-s1023-error/
    I don't use it, so I can't be of much further help, other than to suggest using a later development. GL

    Thank you SruldBrug for the reply.

    As I mentioned in my original post, I have already tried that solution and it did not work.

    It is not that I want that particular version of the Dx SDK rather that it is required by the game I want to install.
    The game install fails when it tries to install Directx SDK 2010 so I wanted to install it manually.

    I could install it on a laptop running win 10 without any problems but gaming on a laptop is not the best experience.

    I am open to any suggestions.
    Thank you.

    I already have the DirectX June 2010 Redistributable already installed, but the installer still fails to install the game.

    I am following the recommendations from the games official site:

    https://fortnitehelp.epicgames.com/...stall-when-installing-the-epic-games-launcher

    The link in the first step leads to the DirectX June 2010 SDK install site, so that is why I try to install it.

    Thanks

    Update!

    I finally managed to install it.
    Just in case someone else finds this thread looking for the solution, this is what I've done.

    - Open command prompt as an admin,
    - run the game like this, changing the bold part to match installer location and name of the
    installer if it is a newer/different version;
    C:\Windows\System32\msiexec.exe /i "D:\EpicInstaller-7.9.2.msi" SKIP_DIRECTX="1"

    - The game launcher should install now.

    - Running the game launcher will result in another error, to solve it we need to ad a suffix to the launcher.

    - Right click the "Epic game launcher" icon and open file location, right click the "Epic game launcher" file,
    Properties, int the target box add -SkipBuildPatchPrereq so it looks like this;
    "D:\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win32\EpicGamesLauncher.exe" -SkipBuildPatchPrereq

    - The launcher should start now and you will be able to log in and install/play the game.

    I hope it will help someone.
    Thanks.

    Good work...

    As StruldBrug mentioned This option is only for windows Xp,Windows Vista,Windows 7 And windows 8 or 8.1.

    It will probably cause stability issues in a newer operating system..
