First off, I'll qualify this by saying I'm not a geek... just a geek in training. Anyway, my athlon xp 2800+ barton was running at around 48c idle (stock cooler)... I know I know, just haven't remedied that yet. I saw the s2k control program on the board here and decided to give it a try. Well, it lowered my cpu idle temp by 10 - 12c. My question is, what am I losing by running this program(besides heat)? I know there's gotta be sumthin'

    Thanks

Hi, i am not in any way familar with that program, but what most programs like that do, is lower the CPU activity while it is not in use... like it may increase/decrease something about the system idle prosess... i am not sure, but thats what most of them do
