safe mode

    xp home

    asked the desktop to boot into safe mode, get to the log on screen and choose admin... then the screen comes up with safe mode listed in the corners... the question of recovery console or safe mode comes up where you should be able to choose yes or no but the dialog goes out immediately and I never get to choose. The system sits with a black background safe mode in the corners and can not access the desktop or start menu, the taskbar never shows

    used task manager from safe mode to reach explorer.exe...

    it will start up and then shut off again, like it has closed

    a lot of malware was found, but now i have these pretty cool red lines going up and down the screen in Safe Mode :( still running things ;)
