Safe to try it in Vista?

    A newbie-type question: I just got a laptop than came with Vista. In stocking it up with stuff that I already have on my XP Desktop, I see things that don't indicate that they work on Vista. I wonder if they just haven't updated the website yet or if they don't really work on Vista. The question: Would I endanger my laptop in any way if I downloaded something that doesn't work on Vista?

    No the programs wont harm your vista machine. They probably just wont work.

    Hi

    Not really at worst with some security applications that use services they "may" BSOD, but in most cases the application just wont install or if it does install it wont run correctly. Normal backup rules apply, do a system restore point before installing an app that may not be Vista compatible.

    But depends on what applications your trying?

    Workaround to getting some either installed or running is right click run as administrator, in some case this allows the app to install and then in Properties > Compatability tick the Run as Admin box.
