Samsung Android 'email Stopped'

I own a cheap old Samsung J1 that I bought a couple years ago at Wal-Mart for a tad more than $50. The screen is cracked and i use it to death. Just recently bought it's first mini SD card for it as it's memory is pitifully limited. its helping my storage capacity, however, my battery strength dies now at 20%, instead of in the bottom red 2% as it's always done before.

Maddening, it is!

And this other new maddening thingie is that I can Bevin the middle of composing, texting, reading anything, any activity at all, and out of nowhere, several times an hour, this white alert flashes on the screen saying "Unfortunately, email has stopped". I am forced to click "ok" to get rid of it, only to have it blare back up in my face a few moments again, dagnabbit.

I'm a babe in the woods here. What in the Sam Hey do I do??

Thanks, plodr! I've been afraid to try that because of all the dire warnings that it shoots out about everything that it can do to your system if you force stop. But you eased my fears about going ahead with it. Following you now! :-*
