i dont know how to change my my sansa e260 from mtp to msc. i keep seeing in other forums that "usb mode" is in settings, but i have no such option. does my firmware need to be updated?

also on a slightly related note, ubuntu recognizes the device but it doesnt show the music files. they usually show up in windows and the computer recognizes how full the device is but i cant find any files on the device

Hi, I just happen to have the same MP3. On the player itself, scroll through the menu to SETTINGS , press center button, then scroll to USB mode & select type you want. It's really easy, just make sure you change it back after downloading to make sure this is the mode you want to be in.

Install Rockbox and open it to more formats and better colors.

    This device rocks!

I never synch mine, I drag and drop between folders....

Amarok will find it but it was easier to drag and drop.

Tiger Direct had 4 GB e260 for $60. I paid $99 at Radio Shack last year. I get about 10-15 hrs of battery life and have not fully drained it in a long time.

Are you sure you're scrolling all the way down? In settings, it is listed after auto shut-off. It took me a while to find it too, as I didn't scroll down enough to find it. You will need to be in the msc mode to drop & drag to a mini sd.

Thanks for the replies SandiS, I was trying to address the questions of AxleXavier- I would suggest he check out the forums on the SanDisk site for help with his particular device. 19 posts and he may or may not be back.

    e200:
    1. Slide the hold switch to the locked position by sliding switch at the top of the player towards the headphone jack until you see the orange indicator.
    2. Press and hold the << (rewind) button.
    3. With the << button held down, connect the player to the PC.

Make sure you have the MP3 player off or it wont work. This recoginized my e260 right away.
