Was wondering what was so special about SATA II; havn't seen any concrete articles going into it other then a prototype preview way back then; but looking at new egg saw alot of new SATA II hdds. Whats the diff between SATA I and II, are they backwards compatible and wheres the performance increase? Only diffrence I have seen is 16mb buffers on SATA II and some protection thingy.

it says 300MB/s there, that's what I had heard originally and the next step being 600MB/s. Although they are going to have to come out with some way of speeding up the platter speed if those numbers are to make any difference in realtime performance.
