    Does anyone know of any free software that can be used to create images of sata drives onto a bootable cd?

    Is this for a backup purpose?

    yep, i have a program that takes hours to setup and gets updates from the net. i would like to create weekly backups of this drive to bootable dvd's.

    there are a lot of backup software but i wouldn't recomend you to use free ones, in most cases they don't work properly, and if you value your data you get a famouse and reliable one(IMHO). as for me i use true image and it has the feature to burn backup file on dvd disks on schedule, some people prefer Ghost, but i don't like it al all! as for free ones check this:

    looks like true image won't work on windows xp 64bit :confused:

    also may not support sata? ghost also has issues with sata to dvd
