Saving, Managing EPS files

Hi, I'm engaged in a project that involves artwork, and the graphic designer saves EPS files using a graphics program called Vector. She sends me the EPS files as attachments in e-mails. I downloaded a free program called "EPS Viewer" which at least allows me to open and view the files that the artist sends me.

Unfortunately, when I try to move or save these files to the desktop like any other file it doesn't work -- what I get is a link to the e-mail that the file was attached to. What kind of program do I need to be able to manage (move, copy, delete, etc.) these files on the desktop or in a folder? I'm on a budget, so freeware is preferable.

BTW I'm running Windows XP Home on a Dell PC.

Thank you. I downloaded Inkscape, but unfortunately it doesn't seem to be any better than EPS Viewer when it comes to file management.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

IrfanView lists .EPS files as supported if you load the plugins package.
