saving web images

hi
my pc has just started only allowing me to save web images in'art' and 'bmp' formats.
have been to microsoft site for help and followed instructions but didnt help any.
any help would be much appreciated

Welcome to MG's .....what is your operating system?
When you right click on a web image, what options do you get?

im using windows xp
the only options it gives me on save picture as is 'art' and 'bmp'
i want to use windows picture viewer to view images but cannot

Strange ....mine are bitmap and jpeg ....will get back with you ...in the mean time wouldn't hurt to pop your cd in the drive (exit out when it comes up) and go to start / run / type sfc /scannow ...to make sure all your system files are not corrupt.

apparently microsoft are aware of this problem
i dont have a windows disk, just a restore disk and i dont want to do that.
too much data on pc

i think i got it fixed
it seems on aol if you compress the graphics it can cause this problem
