Terri Schiavo died this morning at around 1000....say a prayer.....

I'm so glad that the Congressional/Executive branches didn't get involved and try to override the Judicial branch ...

may God have mercy on everyone's soul involved in this FAMILY issue

 

State versus federal is one issue; federal government has a tendency to meddle in issues that are constitutionally a state's perogative.

But in issues of basic constitutional rights, the fed has every right to overule state level decisions, although they did NOT make Terri's case any kind of constitutional issue, simply a personal one, which was wrong.

But the Judicial departments, at either the state or the federal level, are simply one equal branch of government, not the ultimat arbiters of our society. When they are wrong, and they are from time to time, the other branches have both the right and the duty to call them on it. Most politicians today won't bother, but it's still a fact.

As far as the Fed overuling state courts, if they hadn't done that back in the sixties/seventies, there would still be "legal" segregation and "legal" discrimination against blacks all through the South. Just because it's legal, and just because judges rule doesn't always make it right.

 

So very sad. RIP Terri.
