SB XFI sound problem

My Altec Lansings do not come on (no power on light) when I plug them into my second system. I reinstalled the SB drivers for Vista, changed PCI slots for the card and double checked the speaker power cord. The Mobo is the Asus P5Q SE2. Am I overlooking other drivers for the mobo?

 

Most speakers are powered from a wall socket, not the audio port on their system.

 

Hello abekl, the power cord is connected to my surge protector and the speakers work fine with my other rig. Because they work with the other set-up I'm looking for suggestions as to what may be the problem with the second rig.

 

Exploring all options, I decided to reinstall Vista drivers from the DVD, but opening the disc I have no clue what folder/file to check. Can anyone guide me through?

 

Unfortunately I have to revisit this thread. I tried everything that was suggested but the problem is not resolved. Today I removed all the SB drivers along with the sound card and installed some VIA HD Audio drivers. The Altecs still don't work, but the headphones work fine in the front panel jack.

I may not have properly explained, but the Altecs use a wired, external volume and power control that sits on the table-top. When pressing the on/off button a light comes on indicating the speakers are powered, that indicator light doesn't come on when plugged into my mobo or the sound card.
