sbchost.exe & win32 error w/hijack file- Please Help!

Greetings! I would appreciate any help I can get with this. I am having a terrible time with these two messages that come up soon after I boot my computer.

the first:
svchost.exe – Application Error
The instruction at “0x745f28” referenced memory at “0x0000000”. The memory could not be “read”.

the second, which occurs just seconds after the first, is a Generic host process for win32 services error.

Other things that I have noticed happen after these errors occurred :
1. My sound devices are not detected when they are in fact installed and there. Furthermore, I find that if I start windows media player or movie maker before the error messages occur, I am able to use it. otherwise another error message will occur.
2. Sound is absent in launched games
3. Like with the media player, my speakers are not detected after the messages occur
4. I am unable to connect with my shared network hard drive
5. I can't use system restore
6. I can't download microsoft updates
7. I have a slew of other "little problems" but these are the ones that stick out
I have done numerous viral and spyware scans in safe mode, the whole bit. I am at my wits end. Help!

Most if not all of what you are mentioning are not likely to be malware problems!

HijackThis is not a malware scanner and by itself is not useful in trying to determine if a PC has malware on it. Case in point, your log shows nothing of any concern. That does not mean you do not have malware, it just means that in the small amount of information converyed by a HijackThis log that nothing showed. If you want to check for malware, you should follow the below procedures, but I doubt that your problems are malware.

Please follow our standard cleaning procedures which are necessary for us to provide you support. Also there are steps included for installing, renaming, running, and posting HijackThis logs as attachments.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around.

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:

CounterSpy - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users

AVG Antispyware log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users

Bitdefender - from step 6

Panda Scan - from step 6

runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat

newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat

NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these logs!
