    Hi guys,
Today I got a call from Microsoft (Obviously it wasn't really) telling me that my pc was been hacked. Now, normally once I tell them I know they're not Microsoft and it's a scam they hang up, but not today, he insisted he was genuine and from Microsoft so in the end I said ok what is it you want to do.
He proceeded to PROVE to me I was being targeted AND hacked by asking me to open cmd and type netstat. he claimed that the results listed under Foreign Address and showing Established were in fact hackers who had got into my system.
I don't believe for minute that is true but I'm interested in knowing what these connections are and or how I can identify them.

    Thanks for your time :)
    Paul

What Tim said. We can't tell you what it means if you don't show it to us.

And if the twit insists that he really is with Microsoft, tell him to give you a phone number to call him back and mention that you're going to verify that number with Microsoft support. Odds are that he'll hang up on you. If he actually does give you number, doing a Google search on it will show you that: 1) it doesn't belong to Microsoft, and 2) it's a scam.

    Use netstat -f

You'll see who a lot of who those addresses actually are.

    Thanks guys, screenshot attached.

I subscribe to Bettrader so know what it is (although it's not set to run from start up and appears here even though I haven't opened it).

Microsoft (or any PC manufacturer) has never called anyone to tell them they are being hacked, the only time I've heard of anything remotley close was ISPs' emailing or just shutting off your connection until the hack was resolved.
Your PC will make a ton of what seem like random connections, sometimes it is software "checking in" with its license server, or some website cross script. I remember a while back a guy went back to dial up (to slow down action) and watched how many connections were being made when visiting one site.

I just tried netstat on my win10 computer. A list of TCP connections appears followed by some other connections, but then the entire netstat screen closes before I have a chance to read it. How can I make it stay open?

Click start....scroll to Windows System.....click on Command Prompt....then more...and click run as administrator.......then netstat -f
