scan bad sectors

    what is the best tool to use to scan for bad sectors on my hard drive

    The easiest method is to use the Chkdsk utility.

    Open Explorer or My Computer and right click the drive and select Properties.

    Properties > Tools > Error Checking > Check Now
    check the box next to:
    Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors
