Been trying to get my new Visioneer 9220 Flat-Bed installed. Haven't been able to use it because, apparently, all the files don't load off the CD. Got couple notices that various dll files were missing. Went to Visioneer's website and downloaded their uninstaller and used same. Upon reinstallation, had same results. After the 3rd reinstall, I had partial usage of the scanner but it froze up in the middle of a job so there are obviously problems. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm running XP (SP-2), with Asus K8V mobo, Athlon 64, 1GB memory, and 160GB Seagate.
Side-note: Don't bother with Visioneer Tech Support -- the online thing is all but useless and their phone is a 900 area. (!!) I tried that and was told the wait would be 2 minutes. After waiting for 6 minutes, I realized I'd been had and hung up. Can't wait for the phone bill, to see what that lesson cost!
Anyway, thanks for any help you can offer.

    Hey SgtRon,

Are these the files Onetusd.dll and Wiamicro.dll ?

Unfortunately, I didn't copy the titles, Steve. However, those don't look familiar. What are your thoughts on the subject?

This could be the solution but you will have to go thru the process to find out. It should only be two .dll's that you saw. I’m not sure, but it might be best to run the uninstaller again before you start the steps below. Just to make sure you are starting with a clean install for the scanner.

Follow these steps to locate and install the ONETUSD.DLL and WIAMICRO.DLL files:

    Start the installation and,
    1. When the error message asking for the file pops up, click 'Browse'. A new dialogue box will appear, asking where the file is. Click a box at the top labeled 'Look In', and select your CD drive.
    2. When it changes and displays the CD drive, you will see the file in the main box. Highlight it and click 'Open' or 'OK' and you will be returned to the screen asking for the file. Simply click 'OK', and the installation process will continue.
    3. When the installation is complete, click finish. Close all open screens, restart the PC and you should now be able to use the scanner.

    Let us know.

Well, I followed your suggestions. Did complete uninstall and followed up with install. All was copecetic until it began installing the PaperPort software. About half-way through, it suddenly produced a blue-screen warning that something dire had occured and Windows was shutting down. I only had time to read a small part of it, but there was a mention of a PaperPort problem. When something like that happens (very short duration blue screen), would I be able to "pause" it for study?
    The fun continues ----
    Thanks for your help.

You may receive an error 1713 when installing or uninstalling PaperPort 8.0, or when upgrading from PaperPort 8. These steps may also be used to completely remove PaperPort 8 or 9 from your system.

    SgtRon,

This might be easier. Go to the link below from Visioneer, it has several FAQ's on the PaperPort installation and problems you may encounter. Just scroll down to where it says PaperPort.

Sorry for the delay getting back. It's up and working now. Went to the Visioneer website and copied their lengthy uninstall procedure. Then proceeded to wipe out any file or folder with "Scansoft", "Paperport" or "Visioneer" in the title or body. Had to do quite a bit of deleting in the Registry. After that, the install went off without a hitch. A note to others with similiar problems: even though it's a USB device, there are times when the power will have to be disconnected then reconnected before the machine will recognize the scanner. Happened to me. Thanks for your help and suggestions, Steve.

I looked thru some of the uninstall/reinstall instructions and figured it would take awhile, some were very involved.

Glad you got it working and thank's for the tip. :)
