    my specs are :
    AMD 3800+ 3.4ghz - socket AM2
    Motherboard : Abit NF-M2 nView
GFX : Gainward 7600GT golden sample
    RAM : GeIL 1GB (2x512mb) DDR2 dual channel

basically what is happening is that whenever i play a full screenscreen game, or run a 3dmark, i get a completely black screen and i am forced to restart, definately not an overheating problem.
Also these are all new parts, just built the PC yesterday.

Check the drivers for the graphics card, did you obtain the latest ones from the nVidia website?

ok, i managed to get the graphics card sorted, but on 3dmark03 - i got past all of the GFX testing, it got to the CPU test and done it again, does this mean i need to send my CPU back ?

You say its definitely not an overheating problem, - have you software to show this?
The reason I ask is ,if 3dmark03 running cpu test causes it to crash, I wondered what compound you used for cpu/heatsink, and how much ?
