    Hi

I have a pc problem that gradually got worse but now seems to have settled into an annoying few times a day.

Under some load (not a lot really, Itunes or Photoshop sometimes) my pc seems to make a faint click and the screen goes blank. The power supply fan keeps running but the pc is dead, Numlock and Capslock do not change on the keyboard when you press them.

The only way out is a reset / power off.

It is a real pain and I desperately want to change whatever I need to fix it.

I was wondering about my power supply which is an Akasa Ultra Quiet Active PFC 400W PSU 12cm Fan.
Also what about my memory - it is a matched pair Corsair Memory TWIN2X2048-6400C4 2x1GB. Maybe I could take one strip out?

I have not managed to find a reliable way of delibrately "crashing" the pc although I did make it crash with the SiSoftware Sandra burn-in tool. I might try that again.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers:confused

Cheers to everyone who read my post - much appreciated.

With no responses I can only assume I have a specific hardware problem that I need to solve myself as none of you have experienced a similar problem. This is supported by searching the forum and the www and finding very little of a similar nature.

It has not failed in a few days and has even managed a full SisSandra Software burn in without a problem. I will sort it out by removing and replacing my components and maybe trying another PS.

Might even be my onboard Video so will try getting a separate one too!

If (when) I solve it I will post again in case it helps someone.

    Cheers again

Just a quick close out note. I gave in and built a new pc however my Dad took the problem on and got a great PC in the end for free! The problem seemed to get worse.

We bought an identical mobo and put that in without any need to reinstall Windows and that had the same failure mode.

Eventually my Dad changed the hard drive and reinstalled the OS - perfect - no probs for months. Wonderful.

    Cheers
PS I posted this problem again so have closed it out by this statement twice.
