screen goes on and off every 10 secs.-disrupts page/data loading

    I've followed all the sticky thread ins. about debugging xp home ed. and still have this. I think it came in an email recieved off of my yahoo account. Now everything from the start up page to home page takes 15 mins... or more.

    Anyway I have the free home edition of Avast! and it finds nothing, I've run CC Cleaner and it hasn't helped either.

    It will start and run just fine in safe mode... any thoughts on what malware this is and how to get rid of it?

    I guess I'd best add that when I started it up time before last in safe mode with networking (internet access), I ran a disk check; (thinking that might help) now restarted in safe mode (w/networking) it "seems" to be wanting to do the same thing in safe mode! The screen seems to freeze after loading all the 32s...

    I had to come to work so I don't know if it finished loading yet; maybe I can go home for lunch and have a look.

    Hello, anvilring -

    You need to complete the running of the READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    You need to attach (See: HOW TO: Attach Items To Your Post ) the below logs created by running the requested scans
    • SASlog.txt log from SuperAntiSpyware.
    • Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log
    • ComboFix.txt (normally C:\ComboFix.txt)
    • MGlogs.zip - normally it is C:\MGlogs.zip - only attach this log from MGtools.exe DO NOT attach any logs seen in the MGtools folder.
    • You will need to post 2 messages to attach all four logs since only 3 attachments are allowed in any single message. Post all of them in one thread.
    • Be patient after posting your logs and wait for one of the helpers to get to you. It can take a while to read thru all of the logs and to create individual fixes for you.
