Screen Resolution Has Changed?

Much of this past weekend was spent going thru "Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal." to rid my system of "about:blank". This system: Dell XPS D333, 333 megahertz Intel Pentium II, 32 kilobyte primary memory cache, 512 kilobyte secondary memory cache, Windows 98 SE (build 4.10.2222). After completing the procedure, the symptoms appear to be gone, but it seems as if the screen resolution has changed. It's most noticable in the jpeg's, they appear somewhat grainy. It also seems as if all color shades have been altered slightly. In addition, when changing from one page to another by clicking on the tool bar, the colors on the current page change in that split second before the new page appears. Apparently, during the malware removal procedure I changed something that is affecting the screen resolution. I have looked thru many different screens and so far found nothing that I recognize as a way to alter screen resolution. Any ideas or comments about this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K.

Go to Control Panel - Display - Settings, and I believe that toward the bottom is a slider bar with which you can increase or decrease your screen's resolution. Hope this helps! :)

If what Novice suggested isn't successful you can also try to change the number of colours on that same screen. But if you find you can't change the number of colours then you will need to re-load your video drivers

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your help. However, apparently I've got a whole bunch more trouble than I originally thought. During my attempts to get rid of about:blank, VX2 showed up. After cleaning with the VX2 plug-in to Adaware it seemed to be gone but this morning it was back. Also I've notice that my Hosts file is nowhare to be found and many of my .doc files are now .dot's and I suspect other extensions have changed as well. Even tho they are now .dot's they seem to work fine. I'm going to attack the VX2 problem first then take it from there. Thanks, K.
