Ok im not sure where to put this question, its not a life or death question but whenever i close the "lid" on my Dell Inspiron E1705 notebook the screen resolution seams to change on me. This is more annoying than anything.
    • Intel Core2 Duo T7200
    • 1GB dual channel ram
    • 80 SATA HDD
    • nVidia GeForce Go 7900GS
    • crappy display choice (not true-life)
If anyone has any ideas post em please, ill play around with it and if i find something ill post back.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure at the moment what is causing the problem, but I am looking to see what I can find out.

When you have this happen, what resolution is the display set to and what resolution does it get changed to after you open the lid?

Ok it hasn't done it lately, it just kind of does it when it feels like it. I think it may be related to the power management settings, because when you open the lid the resolution goes back to what it was, but all the icons are moved around just like the resolution changed. But as i said its been a while since its done it, so i think it was a power setting that i changed.

in the power settings, where it asks what to do when you close lid, try putting it to do nothing, that may help you to. i'll bet you tried that already though..hmm

While registry edits are not supported by Dell, I think JazaGod's suggestion might be a good one to try. As long as you are careful with what you change you should have no problems.

Well i have good news and bad news, good news is it dosent do it anymore, bad news is i dont know what i did to fix it. It was probably just a power setting, this was the test laptop for vista, which kinda sucks as i found out, i think i have all the settings straightened out now, that was the only tough one.
